Paseo en bicicleta Brett: una victoria para la lucha contra el cáncer
The 6th Annual Brett's Ride for Rhabdo stormed through Hickory this past weekend bringing together over 1,000 cyclists from around the region. Twenty five members representing Levine Children's Hospital participated in the event which featured courses of varying lengths from 10 to 75 miles and circled around the scenic Hickory area. Last year's ride raised $109,500 for cancer research and programs. A portion of the proceeds from this year's event will benefit cancer research programs at Levine Children's Hospital.
Named in honor of Brett Gosnell, who after a three year battle with cancer passed away in 2006 at the age of 20, Brett's Ride raises funds and awareness for all types of childhood cancer including rhabdomyosarcoma (rhabdo) – a childhood cancer of the muscle that affects less than 300 children every year.
