Meineke Car Care Bowl players and coaches brought the game indoors as they paid a special visit to Levine Children's Hospital today. The visit celebrates Meineke Care Care Center's relationship with Levine Children's Hospital and the $75,000 they raised in 2007.
Several players from the University of Connecticut and Wake Forest University, along with their coaches, huddled with young patients in Levine Children's Hospital playrooms. Children received autographed team photos, posed for pictures with players, and became proud owners of commemorative nerf-type footballs.
Players also made 'sideline' visits to the bedsides of children who are unable to leave their rooms.
Durante el Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 29, representatives from Meineke will present the $75,000 gift to Levine Children's Hospital. Thanks to Meineke for scoring a touchdown for kids in the Carolinas!
The recently opened Levine Children's Hospital is a 12-story, 234-bed facility designed with family-centered care as a top priority. Established to accommodate projected growth of more than 100,000 children in the next nine years, it is the third largest children's hospital in the Southeast. LCH treats an average of 134 children each day - more children than any other hospital in the Carolinas. Located on the campus of Carolinas Medical Center, the hospital serves as the regional referral center for pediatric trauma and pediatric surgical services.
