drumSTRONG(TM) Continues Support for LCH
The 'beat goes on' from May 3-4 at drumSTRONG(TM), a local charity event that encourages people of all ages to focus on cancer awareness, education, support, and funding for research. The event, which is registered with the Guinness World Records to hold the planet's longest continuous drum-a-thon ever held, will be held in the pastures of Misty Meadows Farm in Weddington, N.C., four miles south of Hwy 485 on Providence Road. Drumming begins Saturday at 1 p.m. and continues into Sunday evening, rain or shine. Registration is $25 for individuals age 10 and over, and $50 for families with children under 10. A portion of the proceeds from drumSTRONG(TM) will benefit the Hematology/Oncology Center at Levine Children's Hospital on the campus of Carolinas Medical Center.

Founded by Scott Swimmer, drumSTRONG(TM) honors Scott's son Mason, who at age 15 was diagnosed with cancer. Now, three years after being diagnosed, Mason has beaten the disease and is cancer free!

Scott and Mason are excited about drumSTRONG(TM), which was created as a natural expression of their family's desire to be a vibrant part of beating cancer. 'Since rhythm is universal, we decided an event centered on the art and fun of hands on drumming would be a great way to bring people together,' said Scott. 'Aiding local and national organizations to better assist those dealing with cancer, promote early detection, and to work towards cures is a cause that is close to my heart,' he added.

Don't miss this unique and meaningful event, and help the fight against cancer.
