Speedway Children's Charities se compromete a donar $350,000 al LCH
Levine Children's Hospital has received a $350,000 commitment from Speedway Children's Charities, the charitable arm of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. headquartered in Concord, to support the new 234-bed facility that will open in October.
'Levine Children's Hospital will serve a vital leadership role in the healthcare system for our community,' said Scott Smith, Charlotte Chapter President of Speedway Children's Charities. 'This donation will help to ensure that all children in Charlotte and surrounding areas continue to have access to the very best possible medical care.'
Amanda Hollingsworth, Director of the Charlotte Chapter, noted that the Levine gift is 'special because it reflects the generous support of our corporate donors, Speedway Motorsports Inc., Sonic Automotive, O. Bruton Smith and loyal race fans.'
In recognition of the gift from Speedway Children's Charities, the family lounge on the 8th level of Levine Children's Hospital will be designated in the organization's honor. The area is configured to provide privacy and togetherness for families whose children are being treated on the 'progressive care' floor. The family lounge, situated along the front side of the hospital, will be equipped with television, tables, and comfortable seating.
'Our organization recognizes the importance of on-site family support during a child's stay in a large and complex treatment facility,' Smith added. 'This donation reinforces our mission by providing children the peace of mind they need in a stressful situation, knowing their families are comfortable and readily available.'
'We are grateful for the ongoing support we receive from Speedway Children's Charities,' said Michael L. Rose, President of the Carolinas HealthCare Foundation. 'Gifts of this magnitude help to assure that we will reach our goal of $60 million in community support. So far, the Levine project has attracted widespread and generous backing from an extraordinary variety of individuals and organizations. It is gratifying to see that children's healthcare is such a high priority for all those associated with the Speedway.'
Levine Children's Hospital, located on the main campus of Carolinas Medical Center, is currently undergoing its final construction phases, with opening anticipated in late October. Rising to 12 stories, the new hospital will feature several of the region's firsts, including a dedicated pediatric cardiac intensive care unit and a 24-hour pediatric emergency department as well as offering more than 32 medical specialties.
